Those candidates who behave like children need not apply
This presidential election year's rhetoric has reminded me of that passage from the holy scripture, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child."
I am so disgusted when I hear my GOP candidates actually calling other candidates insulting names, promising to shut down long-standing government programs and, most of all, telling us that we'll never have to vote again.
Don't voters know they're being sold a dictatorship when voting is taken from citizens? Don't adult voters recognize when they are being brainwashed to act like children again?
The scriptures continue, saying "When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me."
I now look to the Democratic party to find adult-acting presidential candidates offering to further expand democratic ideals to both immigrants seeking asylum within our borders, as well as assisting other nations learn about democratic ideals.
Kamala Harris clearly stands out from the bunch of childish candidates as the responsible adult during this election. Therefore, she has earned my vote.
Does my GOP want my vote again?Simply find candidates who support the values of Abe Lincoln or Dwight Eisenhower.Those who behave like children need not apply.

Don't fall for DeWine and Huffman's redistricting "solution"
The Citizens Not Politicians grass roots movement collected more than 500,000 signatures to legally get a 15-member, citizens only redistricting commission on the Nov. 5 ballot.
This was a monumental effort by many Ohio citizens. This commission will put an end to the gerrymandered districts that Gov. Mike DeWine and Senate President Matt Huffman so disingenuously defend. It is a blatant autocratic move for the governor and senate president to suddenly submit a redistricting ballot proposal to again attempt to thwart the majority will of Ohio citizens.
Don’t forget both of these people were on the previous “bipartisan” commission of five Republicans and two Democrats who were held in contempt by the Ohio Supreme Court for not creating fair political maps.
Our current political map is severely gerrymandered in their favor. These are politicians who live by “We can kind of do what we want." One of them, actually, states that publicly.
Now, DeWine and Huffman suddenly have a redistricting solution?
Think again, Ohio.

Second debate is needed. Trump can't back away now
The presidential candidates’ second debate is scheduled for Sept. 10.
Among many derogatory adjectives, Donald Trump has said Kamala Harris is “dumb as a rock.” It seems weird Trump would refuse to debate someone he claims is "incompetent," "stupid" and "weak."
The American people want to see the two candidates and be able to compare policies. We want a debate.
If either candidate refuses to debate, the candidate who shows up at the announced scheduled time should be given that time to discuss his or her policies with or without moderators.Diana Nasman, Waverly
America, once proud, is blindly in decline
Glaucoma caused Ray Charles to lose his eyesight at age 7.Instead of cursing the darkness, he lit a candle, and his music has entertained and uplifted so many of us through the years.
Instead of cursing America for what once was and pretending nothing has changed — despite being someone with flaws like so many others — he sang "America the Beautiful" like no one else could, inspiring the best in us.
Today, we have Snoop Dogg inspiring Americans with very different lyrics and a very different message; but with America having been transformed so dramatically, he has now become mainstream in our declined culture.
He even stooped to laughing in a 2017 video while pretending to shoot a U.S. president, but that's okay since he's a liberal.
No, it is not okay.We keep taking a step forward, but then two steps back as our cultural pendulum keeps swinging to a debaucherous extreme.

One can only imagine the left’s reaction if similar groups had been created for Trump.

USPS could consider five days of delivering mail to save money
On July 14, the United States Postal Service had its second price increase in 2024. Stamps increased 5 cents, to 73 cents each to mail a letter. The USPS is required to make daily deliveries of the mail. There is less and less first class mail and more competition from private carriers. Utilities, credit cards etc. all want to have us go paperless. Everything is online.
USPS is looking for ways to cut costs; yet it delivers mail six days a week. One option to save money is to cut back to five days a week delivery for regular mail. They could still deliver special items on the weekends. I do not think the average person would have a problem with five days of deliveries.
Normal five-day deliveries would reduce extra personnel and overtime, allowing mail carriers to work a normal work week.

Jews are the latest target of ignorance
There has always been a proud and ignorant bunch of Americans on hand to harass, vilify and discriminate against innocent Americans. Blacks, Christians and Asians have suffered plenty. Now, antisemitic protesters across America have been going after Jews.
And as always, it's a classic case of selfishness and self-centeredness. The proud and mighty ones want the Jews denied of their inalienable rights while they themselves and all their loved ones enjoy theirs.

Vance's repeated foot in mouth giving GOP buyer's remorse
No wonder the GOP has buyer's remorse about J.D. Vance as its vice presidential candidate. No sooner caught with his verbal pants down, his response makes it worse.
His attempts to explain his criticism of childless women as cats was both ludicrous and more damaging; saying he likes cats left the impression he was back-tracking that image, but mocking childless woman.
He tried to suggest his comments were only sarcastic, which didn’t make sense.He claimed his thoughtless comment was okay because he said Democrats were anti-family.
Where did that lie come from?Democrats honor families by advocating for family leave for childbirth.Democrats have worked to protect in vitro fertilization for women who want to have a family.Democrats vote to protect Medicare and Social Security.
The GOP is striking out with both candidates.
In the presidential race, the GOP must defend an angry old man with clear signs of cognitive decline against a vibrant younger woman exuding joy and vision.
In the vice presidential race, any likely Democratic candidate looks mature and thoughtful compared to the loose thinking Republican alternative.
No wonder Vance gives the GOP buyer’s remorse.
